Lunafae Devon Rex is a small boutique cat breeding program based in Sydney NSW. It is run by me, Kristie, a mum to 2 kids, some cats and a dog. We live in the northern districts of Sydney, and compete in shows all across Sydney, as well as regional NSW and occasionally interstate.
The passion for Devon Rex began many years ago when my aunt adopted a Devon called Daisy. From that moment on there was a passion in my heart for the breed. Over the years they have remained a favourite.
In 2020, my partner and I discussed adopting a cat together in the future, and naming her Heather, after a sentimental stuffed animal. Unfortunately, my partner passed away, and in her memory, welcomed my Devon Rex kitten – Heather Grace – who looked remarkably like that sentimental stuffy. Heather’s show name is Starseed Carina’s Gift.
The love of the Devon Rex grew. I became a registered member of the NSW Cat Fanciers’ Association (NSWCFA), and was soon showing Heather regularly, immersing myself into the Purebred Cat Community. I attended almost all of the NSWCFA shows, as well as a number from other cat clubs. Later, I registered as a breeder with NSWCFA, and my hunt for foundation breeding cats began. Fortunately for me, Bec at Starseed had exactly what was I was after, and Captain and Boudicca joined the family in 2023.
I am privileged and honoured to have Bec and other established cat breeders as mentors and guides to help me breed ethically and responsibly. I believe that it is my duty to not just breed new pure breed cats, but build on the Devon Rex Breed and have a plan in place. I donate regularly to Cat Rescue 901 and the poundies at Thornleigh Veterinary Hospital.
We look forward to welcoming kittens early 2024.
